Quick Facts

  • There are 313 thousand recorded child brides in Turkey.
  • There are 51 million child brides all over the world.
  • 37,000 girls who are 18 or younger are married every day.
  • Around 400 million girls who are now between 20 and 49 years of age were married before they were 18 years old.
  • Along with early marriage, brides are forced to have children at a younger age. Girls younger than 15 years of age are five times more likely to die during the birth of their child than women older than 20. They are also more prone to injuries as a result of pregnancy.

Our goal is to be the voice of all these girls. Girls who are forced into marriage and motherhood without understanding what it is. Girls who get married at the age of 13 to a man three times their age. Girls whose bodies are ripped apart while giving birth to a child while they themselves are just kids. Girls who can't go to school because they have to take care of a baby they had when they themselves were not even close to being an adult.

As an organization, in our own community we raise awareness through posters, brochures, presentations and social media. Help us inform people of this issue by using the hashtag  #heisnotyourprincecharming
